Dr. Gihozo Mutangana Justine

About Me:

Dr. Gihozo Mutangana Justine is a dedicated Junior Registrar in Orthopedic Surgery, currently undergoing specialist training through the College of Surgeons of East, Central and Southern Africa (COSECSA) Residency Program in Orthopedics. She is committed to delivering high-quality, patient-centered musculoskeletal care while advancing her expertise in orthopedic surgery through rigorous clinical training, research, and continuous professional development.

Dr. Gihozo earned her Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree from Zhejiang University in 2021, where she developed a strong foundation in clinical medicine, surgical sciences, and evidence-based practice. Following her medical training, she completed her internship at Kibagabaga Level II Teaching Hospital, gaining valuable experience in the diagnosis and management of a broad range of medical and surgical conditions.

As part of her orthopedic residency training at King Faisal Hospital Rwanda, Dr. Gihozo is actively involved in the comprehensive management of musculoskeletal disorders affecting both children and adults. Her clinical responsibilities include the assessment and management of acute trauma, fracture care, degenerative joint diseases, musculoskeletal infections, congenital deformities, and other orthopedic conditions. She participates in emergency orthopedic care, perioperative patient management, elective and trauma surgeries, postoperative care, and rehabilitation planning.

Through her training, Dr. Gihozo has developed growing expertise in fracture fixation techniques, musculoskeletal imaging interpretation, surgical anatomy, operative planning, and evidence-based orthopedic practice. She is committed to maintaining the highest standards of patient safety and delivering care guided by current best practices and international orthopedic guidelines.

Dr. Gihozo has a particular passion for Pediatric Orthopedic Surgery and aspires to pursue advanced fellowship training in this field. She is especially interested in improving outcomes for children with congenital musculoskeletal deformities, developmental orthopedic disorders, pediatric trauma, limb alignment abnormalities, and other complex orthopedic conditions. Her long-term goal is to contribute to the advancement of specialized pediatric orthopedic services and improve access to high-quality musculoskeletal care for children in Rwanda and the region.

Known for her professionalism, discipline, and collaborative approach, Dr. Gihozo values multidisciplinary teamwork and believes in providing compassionate, evidence-based care tailored to the needs of every patient. She remains committed to lifelong learning and to contributing meaningfully to the growth of orthopedic surgery and musculoskeletal healthcare.
