Research Directorate

The Research Directorate is responsible for conducting research that advances healthcare knowledge and improves patient outcomes. It addresses some of the most pressing healthcare challenges in our community — including infectious, non-communicable, and maternal and child health concerns. The Directorate also supports research activities through proposal development, grant acquisition, and publication of research findings.

Key Focus Areas:

Ensure all research activities comply with laws, ethical standards, guidelines, and institutional policies.

Disseminate research findings to influence policy and clinical practice.

Oversee the activities of Research Governance and Ethics Committees within the hospital.

Support the hospital’s internal research agenda and external research collaborations.

Provide support to the Ethics and Research Committee for protocol reviews and approvals.

Generate, manage, and monitor research grants and funding opportunities.

Build research capacity for hospital staff and students in collaboration with the Clinical Education Directorate.

Research Project Application Requirements

Applicants wishing to conduct research at KFHR should submit the following documents to: irb@kfhkigali.com

Request letter addressed to the CEO of King Faisal Hospital

Full research protocol (Word document format) including a budget

Curriculum vitae of Principal Investigators

Copies of any other Ethical Approvals already received

Recommendation letter from your Head of Department or Supervisor (if KFH staff)

Proof of payment for the Ethical Research Certificate

Note: These fees cover submission charges. No refunds are issued whether applications are approved or rejected. Amendments or recommendations may be resubmitted without additional charges.
