Education & Training Directorate

Welcome to the Directorate of Education and Training

Welcome to the Directorate of Education and Training at King Faisal Hospital, Rwanda (KFHR). KFHR is a center of excellence for clinical education, research, and professional development. Through its Directorate of Education and Training, the hospital delivers high-impact programs for healthcare professionals across Rwanda and the surrounding region. Our commitment is to provide a safe, professional, and academically enriching environment that supports clinical learning, research, and lifelong education. We aim to cultivate a new generation of healthcare leaders and practitioners by promoting high-quality training, ethical clinical practice, and collaborative learning.

Our Focus Areas

  • We provide a structured clinical learning environment grounded in safe, ethical, and evidence-based care. Students benefit from real-world experience under the guidance of experienced clinical mentors.
  • We work closely with universities and professional councils to ensure curriculum alignment, quality assurance, and reciprocal benefits for all training stakeholders.
  • We are a certified CPD provider by the Rwanda Medical and Dental Council, (RMDC) supporting the continuous professional development of our healthcare workforce through accredited seminars, workshops, training programs, and in-service coaching.
  • We promote academic and clinical research among students and hospital staff by providing mentorship, ethical guidance, and institutional support for both academic and contract research.
  • In collaboration with partner institutions, we coordinate postgraduate training programs designed to develop specialized expertise and leadership in healthcare.
  • We facilitate access to up-to-date teaching materials, clinical protocols, e-learning platforms, and skill labs to enrich learning and knowledge retention.
  • Our programs are structured to guide learners through each stage of their training journey, with support for personal and professional development.
  • We promote access to clinical education for learners of all backgrounds, including support for high school students and underrepresented groups through observerships and pre-medical internships.
  • We build strong collaborations with institutions inside and outside Rwanda to enhance training quality, enable exchange programs, and expand academic visibility.

Clinical Placement Opportunities

  • Observerships: For pre-medical students seeking non-participatory clinical exposure.
  • Clerkships: For clinical-year medical students, under close supervision.
  • Internships: For final-year and postgraduate students in medicine, nursing, pharmacy, and allied health sciences.
