About Me:
Dr. Musoni is a Consultant Cardiothoracic Surgeon and Head of the Cardiothoracic Surgery Unit at King Faisal Hospital Rwanda, with extensive experience in the surgical management of complex diseases affecting the heart, lungs, great vessels, esophagus, and chest wall. He is recognized for his expertise in delivering advanced cardiothoracic care, combining technical excellence with a patient-centered approach to achieve optimal surgical outcomes.
His clinical practice encompasses a broad spectrum of adult cardiothoracic procedures, with particular expertise in heart valve surgery, aneurysms and dissections of the aorta, adult congenital heart disease, benign and malignant lung diseases, esophageal disorders, and chest wall conditions. He also manages complex thoracic pathologies requiring multidisciplinary collaboration, utilizing evidence-based surgical techniques and modern perioperative care to improve patient outcomes.
In addition to his clinical responsibilities, Dr. Musoni is deeply committed to advancing surgical education and research in Rwanda. He serves as the Head of the Cardiothoracic Surgery Unit at King Faisal Hospital Rwanda and as the Program Director of the Fellowship in Cardiothoracic Surgery at the University of Rwanda, where he mentors and trains the next generation of cardiothoracic surgeons. Through these leadership roles, he contributes significantly to strengthening specialized surgical capacity and expanding access to advanced cardiothoracic care in the region.
Dr. Musoni is also actively engaged in academic and research activities through the University of Rwanda and Africa Health Sciences University. His scholarly interests include advancing cardiothoracic surgical practice, improving patient outcomes, and fostering innovation in cardiovascular and thoracic surgery through clinical research and postgraduate education. He regularly collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to promote evidence-based practice and support the development of specialized healthcare services in Rwanda.
Dr. Musoni completed his Fellowship in Cardiothoracic Surgery at the University of the Witwatersrand, South Africa, in 2019, after earning his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from the University of Rwanda in 2006.
