Dr. Havugimana Fidele is a highly accomplished General Surgeon with more than a decade of experience in clinical practice, recognized for his commitment to delivering safe, patient-centered, and evidence-based surgical care. Throughout his career, he has developed extensive expertise in the diagnosis and management of a wide range of surgical conditions, providing comprehensive care across both elective and emergency surgical settings. His broad clinical exposure has enabled him to manage complex surgical cases with precision while maintaining the highest standards of professionalism, ethics, and patient safety.
Dr. Havugimana has significant experience working in high-volume Accident and Emergency departments, where he has played a pivotal role in the assessment, stabilization, and surgical management of critically ill and injured patients. His expertise encompasses the treatment of both traumatic and non-traumatic surgical emergencies, requiring rapid clinical decision-making, sound surgical judgment, and effective multidisciplinary collaboration. This extensive emergency surgery experience has strengthened his ability to provide timely, life-saving interventions while ensuring optimal patient outcomes.
A Fellow and member of the College of Surgeons of East, Central and Southern Africa (COSECSA), Dr. Havugimana has demonstrated excellence in specialist surgical training and continues to pursue advanced professional development. He has earned certifications from IRCAD Africa in Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery and Basic Endoscopy, reflecting his dedication to mastering modern minimally invasive surgical techniques that enhance patient safety, reduce postoperative pain, shorten hospital stays, and promote faster recovery.
Beyond his clinical practice, Dr. Havugimana is deeply committed to academic medicine and surgical education. He serves as a Lecturer at Africa Health Sciences University, where he contributes to the education and mentorship of undergraduate medical students, surgical residents, and specialist trainees. Through teaching, bedside instruction, clinical supervision, and mentorship, he plays an active role in developing the knowledge, technical skills, and professional values of future healthcare professionals.
