Dr. Cynthia Kambere

About Me:

Dr. Kambere Cynthia is a Neurosurgeon at King Faisal Hospital Rwanda, where she provides highly specialized neurosurgical care to patients with a wide range of complex neurological and spinal disorders. Her clinical practice encompasses the assessment, diagnosis, surgical treatment, and postoperative management of conditions including traumatic brain injuries, brain tumors, hydrocephalus, spinal disorders, and other intricate neurosurgical diseases. She works closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver comprehensive, patient-centered care while contributing to clinical mentorship, quality improvement initiatives, and the continued advancement of neurosurgical services at the hospital.

In addition to her clinical responsibilities, Dr. Kambere serves as the Clinical Audit Committee Coordinator at King Faisal Hospital Rwanda. After joining the Clinical Audit Committee as a member in 2018, she was appointed to coordinate its activities, providing leadership in the implementation of clinical audit programs that strengthen patient safety, improve healthcare quality, and promote adherence to evidence-based clinical standards. She collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to identify opportunities for service improvement, implement corrective measures, and foster a culture of continuous quality improvement throughout the institution.

Dr. Kambere began her career at King Faisal Hospital Rwanda in 2017 as a Medical Officer in the Accident and Emergency Department, where she provided frontline care to critically ill and injured patients. During this period, she gained extensive experience in emergency medicine, trauma management, advanced resuscitation, and the multidisciplinary management of complex medical and surgical emergencies. This experience established a strong clinical foundation that paved the way for her subsequent specialization in neurosurgery.

Prior to joining King Faisal Hospital Rwanda, Dr. Kambere completed her internship and served as a General Practitioner at Muhima District Hospital from 2014 to 2017. A graduate of the University of Rwanda, she distinguished herself by graduating as the top-performing student of the 2014 medical class. Throughout her internship and early clinical practice, she delivered comprehensive medical care across a broad range of specialties, including internal medicine, general surgery, pediatrics, and obstetrics and gynecology. These formative years strengthened her clinical judgment, diagnostic expertise, and commitment to delivering high-quality, compassionate patient care.
