Dr. Chantal Murekatete

About Me:

Dr. Chantal Murekatete is a consultant psychiatrist at King Faisal Hospital, where she serves as the lead of the Ketamine Treatment and Research Center. Her clinical and research interests focus on treatment-resistant psychiatric conditions, including major depressive disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety disorders, alcohol use disorder, and patients presenting with suicidal ideation or attempts. Under her leadership, the Ketamine Unit has introduced evidence-based, innovative interventions for individuals who have not responded to conventional therapies. Dr. Murekatete is committed to advancing mental health services in Rwanda through clinical excellence, interdisciplinary collaboration, and mentorship of future professionals. Her work contributes significantly to improving access to specialized psychiatric care and reducing stigma associated with severe mental illness.
