Dr. Axelle Aimée Nduwimana is a Pediatric Surgeon, committed to improving surgical care for infants, children, and adolescents through specialized clinical practice, research, and advocacy. She is among a new generation of pediatric surgeons dedicated to strengthening access to high-quality pediatric surgical services across Africa.
Dr. Nduwimana has developed a strong interest in the management of congenital anomalies, neonatal surgery, pediatric trauma, and complex pediatric surgical conditions. Her training is focused on delivering safe, evidence-based, and patient-centered surgical care for children while contributing to the development of specialized pediatric surgical services in the region. She is recognized as one of the emerging leaders in pediatric surgery in the region. In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Nduwimana is actively involved in research focused on improving pediatric surgical outcomes. Her scholarly interests include neonatal surgical care, congenital anomalies, surgical systems strengthening, and expanding access to specialized surgical services in low-resource settings. She has contributed to research examining outcomes of gastroschisis care and the impact of dedicated pediatric surgical services in Rwanda. Dr. Nduwimana is passionate about mentorship, healthcare equity, and advancing pediatric surgery through education, research, and multidisciplinary collaboration. Her work reflects a strong commitment to ensuring that children have access to timely, safe, and specialized surgical care.
