Dr. Yayehyirad Mekonnen Ejigu is a highly skilled pediatric cardiac surgeon with specialized training from Jimma University (Ethiopia), Wolfson Medical Center (Israel), and the Royal Children’s Hospital (Australia). He has been instrumental in advancing pediatric cardiac care in Africa, particularly in Ethiopia and Rwanda, where he has established and led pioneering cardiac surgery programs. A Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a Harvard Surgical Leadership program graduate, Dr. Ejigu is deeply committed to improving access to high-quality cardiac care in Africa and is actively involved in training the next generation of cardiac surgeons.
