Dr. Daniel Shema is a Medical Officer at King Faisal Hospital Rwanda, bringing extensive experience across clinical medicine, humanitarian service, and public health. Since joining KFH in November 2023, he has been actively involved in delivering high-quality medical care with a particular interest in cardiology; including interventional, and non-invasive cardiac services. With a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from the University of Rwanda,
Dr. Shema has built a multifaceted career in both hospital and field-based healthcare settings. His prior roles include:
Medical Officer, UNMISS (South Sudan): Provided urgent and routine care for UN personnel and civilians, led MEDEVAC missions, and trained security personnel in first aid and trauma response.
Director of Clinical Services, IMIRASIRE Youth Clinic: Focused on health education, sexual and reproductive health, and mental health support for victims of gender-based violence.
Medical Officer, Remera Rukoma and Butaro Hospitals: Managed inpatient and
outpatient services, participated in clinical audits, and contributed to oncology care and
accreditation preparation. His clinical practice is complemented by training in Good Clinical Practice (GCP), hospital
operations, and humanitarian health response. With a deep commitment to patient-centered care,
Dr. Shema continues to advance his skills in both general and specialized medicine, contributing
