Dr. Baingana Ambrose Rutarama is a Consultant Orthopedic Surgeon at King Faisal Hospital, Rwanda, with advanced expertise in sports medicine, knee surgery, and shoulder reconstruction. His clinical focus includes treating joint injuries, ligament tears, degenerative conditions, and complex musculoskeletal trauma. Known for his precision and commitment to restoring mobility and performance, Dr. Ambrose takes a patient-centered approach to orthopedic care—whether managing athletic injuries or performing joint reconstruction surgeries. Dr. Ambrose brings a wealth of experience and a deep dedication to advancing orthopedic and sports injury care in Rwanda and the region. He holds a Master of Medicine (MMed) from the University of the Witwatersrand (South Africa) and is a Fellow of the College of Orthopaedic Surgeons of South Africa (FC Orth). Additionally, he completed an ISAKOS-approved fellowship in Orthopaedic Sports Knee Surgery at the Linksfield Orthopaedic and Sports Rehabilitation Unit, affiliated with the Johannesburg Orthopaedic Sports Institute (JOSI). Highly active in elite sports medicine, he served as the Lead Physician for the Basketball Africa League (BAL) for three consecutive years (2022–2024) and supported the 2025 UCI Road World Championships in Kigali. In academia, he serves as a lecturer at the University of Rwanda and ASOME, providing daily hands-on training to students and residents. He is a certified peer reviewer for the Medical Science Monitor and the author of a landmark paper on pediatric supracondylar humerus fractures.
