King Faisal Hospital Rwanda’s Accident and Emergency (A&E) Department is a critical entry point for patients facing urgent medical conditions. As one of the nation’s most advanced emergency care units, the department is designed to deliver immediate, comprehensive, and compassionate care to individuals of all ages—whether dealing with trauma, sudden illness, or life-threatening emergencies.

Staffed by a multidisciplinary team of emergency physicians, critical care nurses, and allied specialists, the unit is operational 24/7, providing swift assessments, accurate diagnoses, and tailored treatments in a highly organized and supportive setting.

What to Expect at the Emergency Unit
The A&E Department is equipped with state-of-the-art infrastructure and operates with internationally recognized emergency care protocols. The facility includes:

  1. 24/7 Emergency Coverage by highly skilled teams
  2. Dedicated Resuscitation Room for critical cases
  3. Private and Well-Equipped Examination Rooms
  4. Specialized Treatment Rooms for procedures and wound care
  5. Advanced Monitoring & Diagnostic Equipment
  6. Observation and Daycare Rooms for continued evaluation or recovery
  7. Integrated Electronic Medical Records (EMR) for real-time coordination

Specialized Emergency Services Offered
Each patient is triaged and managed based on the urgency of their condition. Services include but are not limited to:

• Coordination with surgical teams, orthopedics, radiology, and critical care units

King Faisal Hospital’s emergency unit functions as a hub of interdepartmental coordination. Our team works closely with specialists in:
• Internal Medicine
• Cardiology
• Surgery and Orthopedics
• Gynecology and Obstetrics
• Pediatrics
• Oncology
• Ophthalmology and ENT
In addition, the A&E department maintains active coordination with the Rwanda National Ambulance Service (SAMU) for rapid ground or air evacuations, including transfers from district hospitals or accident scenes—both locally and internationally.

Training and Capacity Building
As part of our commitment to advancing emergency care in Rwanda, the A&E Department provides:

  1. Basic and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (BLS & ACLS) training
  2. Trauma Life Support and emergency procedure workshops
  3. Hands-on clinical training for healthcare professionals and students
