26 March 2024; King Faisal Hospital in collaboration with Chemicotex Rwanda, which manufactures hygiene products and cosmetic oils, provided hygiene products, oral disease diagnosis and counseling to children studying at Kacyiru Primary School. It is an activity organized by the hospital in order to celebrate National Oral Disease Day, which is held every March 20th. The pupils of the first grade of primary schools in EP Kacyiru I were explained how to take care of oral hygiene, its importance and the consequences of not taking proper care of hygiene. The management of this school said that the provision of equipment and advice on oral hygiene has helped these children because there are those who do not already have them and that it will help them continue to take care of oral hygiene at a young age. Kubwimana Sosthène, who runs the center, said that King Faisal Hospital has given advice to the children to comply with those that the management of the center respects in terms of cleanliness now that they are about to start their vacation.
Dr. Uwamahoro Madeleine, an Oral Surgeon at the King Faisal Hospital, who participated in the event, said why the hospital decided to help young children, because they need to have the necessary knowledge early so that they can avoid them. He continued, “We examined them and we found that there were sick pupils who we consulted. We will combine our achievements with the management of the center, and whoever we find with a serious problem will be helped to reach the clinic or we will help them. Dr. Uwamahoro said that the most common oral disease in Rwanda is tooth decay and tooth decay. He said that if this disease is not monitored early, it can even result in the loss of all teeth. He said, “The first tip is to take care of dental hygiene as soon as the child is old enough to be cared for. Also, people should avoid foods that contain too many artificial ingredients.” Health experts advise that at least a person should be examined for oral diseases every six months and receive advice about their condition.
