Dr. Mwizerwa earned his Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree from the National University of Rwanda before pursuing advanced postgraduate training in Switzerland, where he obtained the prestigious Swiss Board Certification in Pediatrics. He subsequently completed his subspecialty fellowship in Pediatric Cardiology at the renowned Geneva University Hospitals (Hôpitaux Universitaires de Genève – HUG), gaining extensive experience in the diagnosis and management of a broad spectrum of congenital and acquired heart diseases in children. To further strengthen his expertise, he earned an Inter-University Diploma in Pediatric and Congenital Cardiology from Université Paris Cité, France, reflecting his commitment to continuous professional development and the pursuit of excellence in pediatric cardiovascular medicine..

His clinical practice encompasses the comprehensive evaluation and treatment of congenital heart disease, pediatric echocardiography, fetal and postnatal cardiac assessment, cardiac intensive care, and the management of complex congenital cardiac conditions requiring multidisciplinary care. Dr. Mwizerwa has extensive experience in caring for critically ill children with congenital and acquired heart disorders, utilizing advanced diagnostic techniques and evidence-based therapeutic approaches to improve outcomes and quality of life for his patients. He works closely with pediatric surgeons, intensivists, anesthesiologists, radiologists, and other healthcare professionals to deliver coordinated, patient-centered care for children with complex cardiovascular diseases..

Beyond his clinical responsibilities, Dr. Mwizerwa serves as the Coordinator of the Rwanda–Swiss Heart Project, a landmark international partnership dedicated to strengthening pediatric cardiac services in Rwanda. Through this initiative, he plays a leading role in expanding local capacity for pediatric cardiac surgery, interventional pediatric cardiology, and specialist training while fostering sustainable knowledge transfer between Rwandan and international healthcare professionals.
