About Me:
Dr. Gloria Shumbusho is a Consultant in Internal Medicine and Nephrology. After medical school, she completed Internal Medicine residency, and Nephrology fellowship at the University of Rwanda. She also pursued advanced nephrology training at the University of British Columbia, Canada.
She currently serves as an Adult Nephrologist and Kidney Transplant Program Coordinator at King Faisal Hospital, Rwanda (KFHR), the national referral center for transplantation. Dr. Shumbusho is also the Internal Medicine Postgraduate Coordinator at Africa Health Sciences University (AHSU), and she is actively involved in the Internal Medicine and Nephrology Fellowship Program at the University of Rwanda, where she contributes to teaching, supervision, and mentorship.
Dr. Shumbusho is also in interested in research, she did one-year training in Epidemiology and Clinical Research at Université de Lorraine, France, and she is currently involved in research focusing mainly on chronic kidney disease, dialysis, kidney transplantation, and health systems strengthening in resource-limited settings. She is committed to generating high-quality evidence to inform clinical practice, guide policy, and improve patient outcomes.
She is an active member of several professional bodies, including the International Society of Nephrology (ISN), the African Association of Nephrology (AFRAN), the Rwanda Medical and Dental Council, the Rwanda College of Physicians, and the Rwanda Renal Organization. Through her diverse roles, she continues to contribute to the advancement of nephrology, the strengthening of healthcare systems, and the training of future medical specialists in Rwanda.
