Dr BARANSABIRA Marie Goretti  is a  Senior Consultant  Internist with Subspeciality in  Rheumatology, focused on diagnosis and treating autoimmune , systemic  inflammatory diseases, muscloskeletal disorders like  arthritis, Gout and lupus. She is also a highly skilled Consultant Internist with subspecialty training in Rheumatology.  She earned her Doctorate in General Medicine in 2009 and completed her specialization in Internal Medicine in 2017 at the University of Rwanda . Further strengthening her expertise, she obtained a Diploma of Advanced Specialized Medical Training in Rheumatology (DFMSA) from the University of Paris Est Créteil (UPEC), France, where she trained at CHU Henri Mondor-Créteil. With over a decade of clinical experience, Dr. Baransabira has served in various referral hospitals across Rwanda, providing comprehensive care in internal medicine and managing complex chronic and autoimmune conditions. She is a national trainer in the management of hepatitis B and C as well as chronic non-communicable diseases, and an active member of the National College of Internists and the Rwanda Physicians Council . She is committed to delivering evidence-based, patient-centered care while contributing to continuous medical education and research.

Dr Janvier MURAYIRE is an Internal Medicine Physician and Rheumatologist whose leadership has been instrumental in shaping rheumatology care, training, and research in Rwanda. As the country’s first rheumatologist—and for two years its sole specialist—he laid the foundations for national clinical standards, specialist training, and sustainable workforce development. He currently serves as Dean of Africa Health Science University and Program Director of the Adult Rheumatology Fellowship at the University of Rwanda, where he leads the nation’s only advanced rheumatology training program and mentors future specialists. His work spans clinical innovation, competency-based medical education, and internationally collaborative research, including a central role in the DIGICODE cohort on hand osteoarthritis. Through initiatives such as nationwide satellite rheumatology units and the multilingual RheumaScience platform, he has expanded access to high-quality rheumatology education and care, while fostering enduring partnerships with leading global institutions.
