Our Neurosurgery unit provides comprehensive care for patients with conditions affecting the brain, spine, and nervous system. Our highly skilled and experienced neurosurgeons are dedicated to delivering outstanding care and utilizing the latest techniques and technologies to provide the best possible outcomes for our patients. • Neurocysticercosis (parasitic infection of the central nervous system).

• Congenital conditions affecting the central nervous systems, including Chiari malformation type 1 and spina bifida (birth defects that occur when the spine and spinal cord don’t form properly).

We use advanced diagnostic imaging and surgical techniques, such as minimally invasive and image-guided surgery, to provide our patients with precise and effective treatment.

KFHR is also the headquarters of Rwanda Neurological Centre, an academically-oriented center of excellence founded in 2010. The center aims to provide an environment for training, education, and research in neurosurgery and related fields. In the past 5 years, 16 nurses were trained and received certificates in neurosurgical nursing care. The hospital partners with different partners to inform best practices in neurosurgery. Partners include Dalhousie University in Halifax, Canada; Duke University; Harvard; FIENS (Foundation for International Education in Neurological Surgery); and Randwood Foundation. The hospital also houses a library with the most comprehensive and extensive collections of books on neurosurgery and related fields.
